Transport is one of the the key areas the local government sector needs to focus on to reduce energy use and cut emissions.
Supported by the LGMA, the CCMA Reimagining Transport in Local Government Working Group was established to offer guidance on how local authorities could seek to reduce their transport emissions.
An initial draft guidance document Local Authority Reimagining Transport - Early Interventions was launched on October 6th 2022 at a webinar that examined key aspects and potential barriers. Areas that were outlined covered: fleet management, behavioural adjustments and technological solutions.
The work of the Reimagining Transport Working Group is ongoing to develop the final report, which will include further potential interventions incuding considering national procurement strategies and standardising fleet management approaches.
